Description
District 8 4-H SURGE is a leadership development experience for senior-level 4-H members who have completed at least the 8th grade in the current 4-H year. The registration fee includes lodging for two nights, all meals and snacks during camp, program materials, insurance, and instructional workshops.
Camp attire is casual and school-appropriate for daytime activities and workshops. Each evening includes a themed dance, and participants are encouraged to dress up within dress code guidelines.
Objective
The purpose of SURGE is to prepare teen leaders from the 21 counties in District 8 to serve effectively in leadership roles at the club, county, and district levels. Through structured workshops, team challenges, and leadership-focused activities, participants develop skills in communication, collaboration, decision-making, and service.
SURGE is intentionally designed to balance meaningful leadership development with opportunities to build relationships and district-wide camaraderie. Participants are expected to engage fully in workshops, officer candidate activities, and elections, and to return to their counties prepared to share knowledge and lead others.
Forms Needed
All youth and adult participants are required to complete a Health and Release Form packet, including the Medical Authorization and Health Statement forms. A copy of the participant’s insurance card must be included.
Forms must be completed, signed, scanned, and uploaded to 4-H Online during the registration process. Registrations will not be considered complete until all required forms have been uploaded and approved.
