The Texas 4-H Center in Brownwood is gearing up for another great summer! 4-H Camp registration is now open at http:www.texas4hcenter.tamu.edu!  The Texas 4-H Center offers many exciting opportunities and this year is no different.  A brand new camp is coming – the County Camp IV is centered entirely on outdoor education activities.  Activities include fishing, boating, shooting, knot tying, swimming, arrow making, challenge course, and dance. Your favorite 4-H programs such as color run and dance are still included along with star gazing and night time outdoor activities.

Leadership Opportunity – Rodeo Austin

Rodeo Austin is looking for youth to sing the National Anthem, recite the 4-H Pledge and the FFA motto for each of the show days. Listed below are the show dates and times. For those interested in this opportunity please use the link below to sign up. Please note that once you sign up, you are committing to this so please double and triple your schedule before you sign up!   • Jr. Beef Heifer Show – Sunday, March 12th & Monday, March 13th; Show starts at 9:00 am
  • Market Steer Show – Wednesday, March 15th & Thursday, March 16th; Show starts at 9:00 am
  • Market Poultry Show – Saturday, March 18th; Show starts at 11:00 am
  • Market Lamb & Goat Show – Sunday, March 19th; Show starts at 9:00 am
  • Barrow Show – Saturday, March 21st & Wednesday, March 22nd; Show starts at 9:00 am
  • Barrow Show – Sunday, March 20th; Show starts at 9:00 am
  • Open Boer Goat Show – Friday, March 24th; Show starts at 9:00 am
  • Longhorn Show – Saturday, March 25th; Show starts at 10:00 am

Youth will need to plan to arrive at least an hour prior to the start of the species show in which you are volunteering. One parking and one gate pass will be provided for the youth who is volunteering (provided you do not already have any) and the passes will need to be picked up at the Rodeo Austin office on the morning of the show.

When you sign up, there is an option to put in an alternate name if the parent is using their account for the signup process.  Use the “First Name” box , fill that out using first and last name of the youth member. In the “last name” box, fill that out indicating which county or chapter in which the youth is a member.

4-H Coloring, Art & Photography Contest

The Texas 4-H Youth Development Program is partnering with the Texas A&M Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory (TVMDL) to help celebrate their 50th Anniversary of ensuring the safety of our state.  To do this the TVMDL is sponsoring a coloring contest for Texas 4-H Clover Kids and an art and photography contest for 4-H members.  The contest will run from January 1, 2017 to April 1, 2017 and all entries will be scanned and uploaded into 4-H CONNECT.  This does means that all Clover Kids will need to have an active profile in 4-H CONNECT to enter. To commemorate the milestone, TVMDL is sponsoring a coloring and art contest for Texas 4-H members.
