Texas 4-H Veterinary Science Skillathon – Deadline Extended!

This is a friendly reminder that the Texas 4-H Veterinary Science Skillathon application deadline has been extended and applications need to be postmarked by Friday, March 28, 2014!!!

Are YOU in the 4‐H Veterinary Science project and like a little friendly competition?!? Then the Texas 4‐H Invitational Veterinary Science Skillathon is for YOU!! Apply to participate today! Postmark your completed application by Friday, March 28, 2014.  The contest will be held during Texas 4‐H Roundup on Thursday, June 12, 2014 in College Station.

This is an exciting, hands‐on contest for youth in the Vet Science project to showcase their skills in a little friendly competition! It is an Invitational contest for Intermediate and Senior age 4‐H members who meet the minimum requirements (see application). It is a competitive event designed to test the knowledge and skills that a 4‐H member can gain through his or her involvement in a Veterinary Science project.  There are four components to the contest.

  • Written Exam – to test subject matter knowledge
  • Skills Exam – to test hands‐on or experiential learning (and it’s FUN, too!)
  • Quiz Round – think on your feet to gain (or lose) points
  • Communication – share your knowledge with others and practice your public speaking skills
